A key attraction of the iPhone is its simplicity. Simple is elegant. Too many cases and add-ons for the iPhone add complexity and make a simple thing awkward and ugly.
If you're in that camp, check out Waterfield Designs' new iPhone Suede Jacket Case. It's as simple a case as you can get: a mere sleeve for the iPhone to slide into. That's it. No straps, flaps, seals, or anything. Just a cloth pouch.
The thin suede material is soft and acts as a gentle screen cleaner as it rubs against the iPhone's display when you insert and remove it. Like all Waterfield Designs products, it's extremely sturdy and well-built.
Of course a case like this isn't going to provide drop protection for your iPhone, but if you're just worried about keeping your iPhone loose in your purse or pocket, or don't want it to get spills and fingerprints on its surface, this case is an excellent solution.
I initially found it a little inconvenient to get the case on and off -- the fit is so tight you have to work a bit to get the iPhone started, but once started the rest of the phone slides in easily, and with practice I got better at working with the case. I also found that for quick iPhone usage -- to check a voicemail or dial a number -- you don't have to completely remove the iPhone from the case, which helps. You can just pull out the iPhone enough to read and interact with the screen and slide the case back on.
A case like this isn't designed so you can use the iPhone while it's in the case, which some may find inconvenient. But if you're looking for a simple and elegant case that will provide some surface protection when you're not using your iPhone, you should consider the Waterfield Designs' Suede Jacket Case.
