The word “sexy” is used often when describing the Sony PSP and the word fits our slim, sleek portable gaming machine. It makes sense that something so sexy deserves protection while taking it on long road trips with the family or taking it along with you on long business trips. The good people at Waterfield, makers of some really well-made notebook bags, has designed a PSP Gear Pouch big enough to house all the PSP’s essentials and it’s not bad at all. For starters, the pouch has a sporty design that might not smack of sexiness but at least its material feels thick enough to provide enough protection in case you spill liquid on it. Will it protect the PSP from damage if you happen to drop it? Perhaps and that’s mainly because the durable material and the padding inside. The pouch is black with a zipper running in the front and judging by the two compartments inside it’s perfect for memory cards and housing up to five or six UMV discs. The second zipper opens up the pouch’s main compartments, where the actual PSP will be housed between two soft but well padded dividers. I placed my PSP covered by the soft case that was included with it and the unit fit snuggly enough but if you decide to simply place your PSP without it the dividers are felt and will protect the screen from scratches. You can also store the instruction manual and an extra battery. There are also three small compartments that fit the AC Adapter and the ear buds well enough. You can also place the cleaning cloth in the last compartment. With all the main items in place, the pouch doesn’t feel crowded nor will it make a big bulk that’s hard to carry along with you. It’s a nicely made pouch for those that want to protect their investment but those looking for tougher protection you might want to consider something with a hard case. The PSP Gear Pouch from Waterfield retails at $39 and can be ordered off their online catalog (www.sfbags.com) or toll free 877-546-1040.
Pros: The pockets fit the AC adapter, ear buds and the instruction manual well enough. Front pocket perfect for memory sticks and carrying just a few UMV discs. It’s the perfect size. Cons: Verdict: 9.0 |
