Luggage Week: Waterfield Design, Ant Industrial

Seth Robson, Melvin Rivera

I had been looking pretty intently for a slipcase for my new iBook Dual USB, as it had incurred a few scuffs on the top after only having it a couple of weeks. I ended up getting the Waterfield Designs SleeveCase for US$38.

The design is simple and elegant, the neoprene is form-fitting and not too bulky - just perfect for slipping inside a larger bag. They make a version that fits the TiBook, and also offer vertically-oriented versions, leather versions, and D-rings/straps.

Melvin Rivera adds:

I spent a few days looking at bags for my new iBook and found the coolest bag (01RP) from Ant Industrial. Since it doesn't really offer protection for my precious iBook I got a sleevecase specifically made for the new iBook from WaterField.

The bag from Ant Industrial is a good size. The sleeve fits in very good and I have plenty room for power cord, cables etc. thereís only one big pocket inside that I use for the power cord. The front has quite a few compartments, pockets and velcros to fit loose items and papers. And thereís even a side pocket that can fit my cell phone, PDA and wallet.

The sleeve case from Waterfield fits perfectly my new dual USB iBook. It has a plush layer of high grade neoprene wrapped in a Ballistic shell. The ultra smooth neoprene skin makes sliding your laptop in and out a snap.

Both online purchases went pretty smooth but WaterField in particular was an exceptional experience. They responded to a few questions right away, changes my shipping rate to a cheaper one without a delay in time and included a personal note in the receipt.

[Ed: I reviewed the Waterfield luggage on 01 March 2001 and their Sleevecase is still my favorite insert/sleeve for the TiBook.]
