Okay, full disclosure: I'm a huge fan of any product designed by WaterField Designs. Their sleeve cases
are to die for. But what I really want is a nice laptop bag. Something
that won't hurt my back, and will look slim and clean. About a year ago
I picked up WaterField's VertiGo bag.
The VertiGo bag (pictured at right) is my ideal choice as a laptop bag.
It's light, has a few compartments and looks extremely slim because of
its vertical positioning. This is a perfect choice for small and medium
size laptop owners who want a solid bag to carry their laptop and a few
accessories. The VertiGo bag is available in small, medium and large
with prices starting at US$79.
The Cargo bag
is a perfect choice for someone who wants a solid laptop bag to cram in
cables, power cords, binders, and a laptop. I thought this would be my
perfect fit but it's not. The bag felt heavy and at the end of the day
it hurt my shoulder - I probably need to limit the amount of gear that
I carry on a daily basis. I think this bag is more of an ideal fit for
a hip business man/woman, rather than a college student.
The Cargo's numerous oversized pockets can organized even the most
disorganized person. The coolest thing about this bag is the lack of
velcro for the main compartment. Instead, an aircraft buckle available
in either silver or black is available, giving your bag a touch that
will allow it to certainly stand out in the crowd. The Cargo bag is
available in three sizes: large, medium and small with prices starting
at US$170.
In the end, picking a bag is a personal decision and it all depends
what you're looking for. If you want something lightweight with room
for a laptop and a few accessories go for the VertiGo. If tons of
pockets and lots of room are needed, the Cargo is your top pick. Either
way, you are still receiving the best quality in your bag from
WaterField.
