WaterField Gear Pouch & Mini Pouch

waterfield-120.jpgWe've reviewed quite a few PSP cases that are form-fitting and meant to stay on your PSP at all times. We've always been in the group of "purist" PSP owners that fell in love with the device for its looks just as much as its gaming and multimedia abilities. We'd rather have a carrying case that we can take the PSP out of to play, revealing the beauty of the device and having a better feel when playing games. And if it has room for other accessories, then all the better. When it comes to such a case, the WaterField Designs PSP Pouches are our new favorites.

Made in San Francisco, California, the sporty yet sleek cases exude quality construction. These are no Taiwanese factory-produced cheap cases. The PSP Pouches are built from rugged Ballistic nylon, offer ample padding, and secure zippers and seams. They've also each got two handy loops for easier carrying or for strapping to your backpack or messenger bag — one vertical loop and one horizontal loop. Both come in a variety of colors and are priced just as you'd expect. Overall, both PSP Pouches are well worth every dollar when it comes to quality and wear.

PSP Gear Pouch ($39)

Measuring 9.75" x 5" x 2", Waterfield's PSP Gear Pouch is the perfect size for those of us who want to bring along more than just our PSP. It features a padded and lined compartment for your PSP (it will fit even if it's already in a form-fitting case); a main compartment for the AC adapter, power cord and USB cable; slots for UMD games, movies and more; and a zippered front compartment with various slots for things like Memory Sticks, cash, change, keys and other small items. We fit all kinds of stuff in our review unit and still had room left over for things like our wallet, cell phone, and extra batteries for our digital camera. The PSP Gear Pouch could easily hold a dozen games or so if you were leave some of the other stuff at home.

PSP Mini Gear Pouch ($29)

Slightly smaller than the PSP Gear Pouch at 7.7" x 3.5" x 1.3", the PSP Mini Gear Pouch is for when you don't need to bring the kitchen sink with you and want to travel a bit lighter. Though lacking an outside zippered pocket, the case has nearly the same layout inside as its big brother. It has a soft, lined compartment for the PSP and an open middle area that can easily hold a USB cord, an extra battery and earphones. The PSP Mini Gear Pouch also has two slots that can fit several games, UMD movies or other extras. If there wasn't already the PSP Gear Pouch, this case would definitely be at the top of our recommended case list.
