Soon after I bought a new backpack from Waterfield, I was looking for a new way to organize my cords and dongles inside it.The old Amazon brand cord wrap I had used was starting to get worn and did not hold a lot of what I needed.
This pouch satisfied my need for carrying all of my cords, dongles, and my spare charger. I was expecting the small / regular size to be a little smaller, but it was just the right size to fit in my hand and hold all of my stuff without issue. The canvas is also a good choice and it feels premium and has held up well so far. The last little nod to give to this bag is the magnetic closure. It seems like such a simple solution to a bag closure, but one that really makes a difference over any other cheap mass produced bag you can get on Amazon.
This Tech Pocket is high quality, there’s no doubt about that. I’m using it as an organizer to store loose items in the main compartment of my briefcase. My briefcase is pretty thin so I thought this would be perfect since it’s a slim pouch.
When I pack the pocket with my MacBook Pro 87W charger, with a long USB-C to USB-C cable, there’s still plenty of room to put additional items. But the problem is that as I stuff it, it gets pretty thick. So if you’re trying to spread out your loose things to maintain a slim profile it could a bit difficult to organize. For me it bulges my leather briefcase ever so slightly. I think if there was a version of this pocket that’s less padded, it’d be perfect. I think the padding inside is a little too plush for what I need. It’s good protection, but it also makes the whole Tech Pocket thicker. I'm hoping to get a smaller/more portable MacBook charger soon to solve this issue.
The last nitpick I have about the Tech Pocket is in the magnetic closure. It’s so strong that I find it hard to open. I’d love to see a version where I can open the pouch in a simple interaction. I think small handles on each side of the magnet would help too if I need to pull the magnets apart. Right now I’m kind of awkwardly jamming my finger between the opening to try to get it open. It’s not easy. But at least I know my stuff inside is secure and won’t spill out inside my bag.
My favorite feature of the tech pocket is probably the magnetic opening, which helps make accessing your stuff less obnoxious, whether you’re in a classroom or at the office. The large size is incredibly roomy and should be able to fit anything you throw at it, including your phone or small tablet (the soft lining will protect your device’s screen as well). Seems that the canvas construction will hold up over time, in addition to being super nice to the touch!
This bag is perfect for the iPad mini and other similarly sized tablets. It’s protective against careless drops from waist height and from small objects landing on the tablet. It’s got enough pockets to handle a full days worth of work from a tablet and phone and is slim and light enough to not weigh you down. I got this as a gift and the person who gave it to me said that this company also has awesome customer service. This is the second product I’ve gotten from this company and both are ones I recommend to anyone who asks.
The Tech Pocket was designed to be an extra pocket –– a pocket to hold small tech accessories like earbuds, dongles, adapters, Apple Pencil 2, Surface Pen, SD cards, and the like. It can also be used to hold personal items that require some protection in a plush, cushy interior.
The Tech Pocket is one of the products from the Next Generation Gear Case community design project.
