Perfect laptop backpack

Fantastic Backpack

I’ve gone through 4 or 5 laptop/technology bags over the last few years and have never been satisfied with any of them. I found Waterfield Designs a few months ago and was very impressed with their line of bags. As I reviewed their different style bags, the Staad Laptop Backpack caught my eye. After several months of looking at it I finally pulled the trigger and I’m so glad I did. The quality of this bag is superior, with high quality materials. It holds everything I need in my day to day life and will also be perfect for travel. I highly recommend this bag.

This is a great backpack. I have used lots of backpacks for business over the years. The Saad is a good combination of function and form. Attractive looks (I went with all black.) Pockets are very functional. Quality of materials are high. But what I like best about this bag is the comfort. The Saad wears very well on your back even when fully loaded (I have the stout.) No pressure on the shoulders and weight balance is good; feels very light. If I could make one adjustment it would be to add a sleeve on the portion up against one's back so it can slip through the handle of a roller board bag when traveling.

The Ultimate Techie Backpack

What a wonderfully designed way to lug your tech gear around! It's the perfect size (I got the slim variant) for bringing a laptop, tablet, and a few sundries to a coffee shop. At the same time, it's my go-to daily commuter bag. I purchased this with along with the Waterfield Air Porter and the two pieces complement each other perfectly for a 2-3 day business trip or conference. It is actually possible to store a change of clothing in the center compartment of this backpack by using a compression bag. Waterfield really pays attention to the details that make the difference between a good bag and truly great bag. I appreciate the distressed waxed canvas look, which looks appropriate whether I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt or dressed in tweed and brogues. The material is both lightweight and strong, with the kind of patina/character you'd expect only from leather. Every interior pocket is well thought out and functional, with uses you'll discover over time. The ammo strap idea is amazingly useful. I'm not sure why it took so long for a bag designer to discover this. If you leave some slack in the straps you can swing the pack around and access the back zipper pockets. I use those for my wallet and phone. The exterior zippers are covered with black fabric to protect them from water, and they also give the pack a clean appearance. My only minor criticism is that the nylon straps seem to slip occasionally when wearing the pack. I don't see any kind of locking mechanism to secure the straps once I've found the right length. That aside, you'd be hard pressed to find such a backpack with this much utility and quality anywhere.

Waterfield's Staad Slim Backpack Is Impeccably Designed And Here For The Long Haul [Review]

Cult of Mac - October 30, 2013

"If budget isn't an issue, the Staad backpack is a solid addition to anyone's tech kit. The heavy construction and custom-designed fittings seem like artifacts from an earlier, less obsolescent era while the more modern options promise a long, productive, useful lifespan."

Waterfield Designs Staad Backpack review

iMore - November 9, 2013

"It's easy to find a laptop-carrying backpack these days; everyone and their brother makes one. It's a different story to find one that looks this good, dresses up nice, and is this well-made. Admittedly, you pay for that quality of construction and appearance. But if you're looking for a laptop backpack that looks as good in the boardroom as it does on the subway, the Staad fits the bill."

WWII-ERA BUCKLE GETS RE-PURPOSED

Those in the know will find it very easy to open the flap, others will find it challenging. Back in the day when you needed a quick release with safeguards, this was the buckle of choice.

"I found it to be very comfortable on my back, with plenty of padding. The "ammo pouch" release is easy to use, and very secure." - John
