I have purchased several bags or sleeves from Waterfield in the past, and the quality is always top-notch.
It's so rare now to find a company that produces quality work like this, and also stands by their work.
I've been looking everywhere for a magnetic sleeve that is truly compatible with the MacBook Pro 14" M2 (year 2023) model. Unfortunately, all the 14" sleeves currently in the market are actually made for MacBook Pro 14" M1 (year 2021), not the M2 model. These sleeves are not compatible because the thickness of the M2 model is thicker than the M1 model. Due to this, the sleeve feels overly tight for the M2 model, constantly applying pressure to the lid against the body. This will cause the rubber around the lid to have issues over time. If you look at Apple's website, you will not find any compatible sleeve for MacBook Pro 14" 2023 model (by filter). Luckily, I found the "SFBags" 14" sleeve and so far this is the only sleeve that can fit the MacBook 14" nicely.
If I've to suggest any improvement, I'll say make the canvas fabric thinner and lighter if possible. Overall, this is an amazing sleeve that really works well.
Really love this case. Clearly made by hand with care. The magnets are strong - I can hold it upside down as long as it’s firmly closed shut and the laptop stays safe within. It fits my 16” 2021 M1 MBP perfectly, something many cases claim but fail to deliver on, eg: Bellroy’s case, which sadly does not actually fit a 16” Apple Silicon MBP. It’s slim and minimal but its mass produced stuff that ultimately does not work at all.
That’s simply not the case here with Waterfield. My only qualm is that it is quite heavy, bulky and not very minimal, in my opinion. It’s not the end of the world since this all adds protection to my computer and I’ll mostly use it for local travel (coffee shop, waiting room etc) but I would be very apprehensive to take this with me on any sort of extended flight or travel thanks to its mass. I also had a hard time discerning what the final product would look like based on how varied the sample pics on the site were.
Ultimately went with horizontal green with no hardware or straps as I always just carry it under my arm or in my backpack. The leather “handle” is some of finest, most supple leather I’ve ever touched. Everything about it screams high quality. Can’t wait to see it patina over time.
