"...this is a very well made waxed canvas and leather bag that will last for years and years."
"The Outback is a superb bag. It manages to look understated and unfettered; an oversized statement bag in disguise. This bag doesn't make you loo high-maintenance; it makes you look rugged, sexy and cool."
"The construction of this bag is exquisite. Its vintage canvas is thick, stands up well, and can handle the occasional summer storm. As I continued to use the bag, the leather detailing, handles, and seat aged with perfection; the bag is actually more handsome now than when I first used it."
Some people think the words "tote bag" and "men" don't go together. The Outback Canvas Travel Tote disproves proves this! The bag smells good. It looks good. It feels good. It's the right size. It carries well, and makes YOU look pretty good, too. And for about $150, it's a steal. (P.S. Women will love it too.)
So many excellent features and the only two things I might recommend is an outside end pocket for a wet umbrella and a better way to stitch the end of the zipper when open.
The first big test of the Travel Tote was when it rained steadily the entire day. My compact umbrella was wet and it would have been nice to have a waterproof pocket on the outside at one end of the bag to keep it handy and out of the way. A second pocket on the opposite end would be nice for a water bottle (please use the measurements of the insulated Klean Kanteen).
The first time I tried to close the zipper, I wasn't sure whether the end tab is supposed to stay tucked in or pulled out. The study stitching tight to the end of the opening made me think I should keep the tab tucked in. The bag is supposed to be waterproof or water resistant and that little area could be where water leaks if I pulled the tab out. Closing the zipper is not easy especially when the bag is full. It's a sturdy zipper and stiff so unless I set the bag down, I don't have enough hands to get the sides of the bag close to each other to zip the bag closed.
Wish the handles were two inches longer--can't use as shoulder bag if wearing a coat. Wish the fabric was stiffer. Thought I was buying a bag that would stand up but this collapses into a pile. Like the bright lining.
Is this waterproof?
It’s not waterproof, but it is water-resistant.
