Great Everyday Carry or Travel Bag

This bag fits it all. I am able to carry a 16" Macbook Pro, and a 13" Macbook Air in the two padded compartments. In the main compartment I have the large gear pouch, 1 planner, 1 journal, 1 notebook, a pencil case (fabric), and my headphones case (hardshell). All of this fits with ease, in the bag.

When traveling I am able to carry all the essentials with me. I typically carry a few sets of clothes, and my important medication with me. The front pockets provide easy access to needed credential docs - passports, wallet, etc.

I got the brown canvas color. I love the look and feel of the materials, and that Waterfield classic yellow/orange interior. Chef's kiss!

As a 5'3" woman, I find the straps sit comfortably across my chest, and this backpack does not look comically large on me. (A common problem with larger backpacks.)

I will say the one downside is that because of the materials it is a heavier bag than some others on the market. However, I knew this going in, and I don't find the weight - even when packed with things - to be an issue.

Excellent daily and travel backpack

I did an extensive search for my next backpack (to replace my worn-through breton) - and ended up with the Shinjuku. I absolutely love it - the build and construction make the price worth it, I love the look and feel of the canvas and leather, it works great as a daily office backpack as well as a fantastic travel backpack that’s comfortable to wear around/toss on my carry on. It has just the right amount of organization and storage and enough pockets to separate out my items but not too many. My gear feels well protected with the slots for my laptop and iPad. Little things like how easy it is to open/close the zippers, the contrast of inner lining against my gear, the internal water bottle slot to keep it stable, the feel of the leather handle - all adds up to a great product. Excited to hopefully get more Waterfield products in the future when I’m in the market for them.

Very nice backpack and love it’s made in SF. I bought it for my son going to college and he loves it. It’s perfect.

You can comfortably fit your mobile office in the Shinjuku Backpack. Dual padded pockets protect your laptop and tablet. An internal water-bottle holder helps maintain the backpack's sleek profile. The compact interior comfortably fits additional gear.

Frequently-accessed items are secured in two stacked external pockets so it's easy to retrieve what you need. Tall side pockets store additional items.

Like all WaterField backpacks, the Shinjuku Backpack includes features designed with your daily comfort in mind. Two zippered front pockets helps you organize small essentials for easy access. Two side pockets are tall enough to keep items from accidentally falling out. The pleated front panel expands to hold bulky items, keeping the look clean and professional.

The extended top zipper lets you open the sides wide so you can easily access items at the bottom of the bag. The gold-colored interior liner lets you quickly see what's inside. You may not notice these details, but they make a real difference in your day.

Ballistic Nylon is a resilient textile that blends durability, lightness, and weather-resistance. Its sleek, understated aesthetic makes it an ideal choice for the Shinjuku Backpack, a bag designed to be comfortable, lightweight, and stylish.

TRADITIONAL 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS

Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas. The majority designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. Its naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up.

We source our canvas from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

HOW TO FRESHEN UP CANVAS

If you have the Shinjuku Backpack in traditional waxed canvas, you can keep it looking like new by applying wax when you think it needs a little refresh. Although you can use any wax, you may want to try Martexin Original Wax™ which was initially used to coat your canvas bag.
