Everything fits nicely and it looks great love it.
I’ve been using the Gear Pouch for over a week now and I’m quite satisfied with it. I ordered the small one because I wanted to use it as a “man purse” to hold my credit card case, money clip, house/car keys and phone, all in one place. With careful organization, I was able to fit those items quite well, with minimal bulge. I particularly like the zipper which zips all the way down to provide easy access to the contents but also locks in place. The gold lining is trademark Waterfield which I’ve always appreciated. If there was anything I’d change, it would be to make it slightly bigger (without turning into a medium) and putting an option for a strap along the side or loop at the top so that I can slip my hand into it without worrying that the pouch will fall off my hands. Aside fro that, it’s great for what I’m using it for!
Just brought it to my last trip in conjunction with my Air Porter briefcase. The Gear Pouch helped me to keep all my cables and charger organized, also making it a breeze to go through airport security. Love it!
This is a high quality product that does its job well. I can easily fit a phone charger, a couple cables and some pens. I got the navy version and the color matches the navy in the Cycling Musette and the small version fits perfectly inside the Musette's inner pockets. My only suggestion would be to trade one of the internal flaps for pen loops.
So bias up front, I've loved everything I've ever bought from Waterfield Designs, so I fully expect to love anything even before I bought it.
Thankfully this gear pouch stands the test of heavy use and looks great. I had previously picked up a medium gear pouch with my Rough Rider Messenger a couple years back and loved it, I was always packing it full of my smaller items and found myself wishing for just a little more room! So when the limited edition materials came out and I saw that bright red one, I went ahead and upsized - and I'm glad I did! I travel a lot for work, and though I try not to overpack I tend to have a lot of small items I'd like to keep together and this does the job well while looking and feeling great (and fitting into my same rough rider bag without issue). The craftsmanship is always top notch, and the signature gold lining looks great inside the bright red of the pouch. I'm able to pack a ton of items in it without issue, and I'm sure this will last like a champ as my other gear pouch did.
What is Microtech textile?
Microtech is a water-repellant, industrial-strength upholstery material that’s durable and withstands the nicks and scuffs encountered in everyday usage. It has been tested to 90,000 double rubs, a metric furniture makers use for abrasion testing. To put in perspective, 15,000 double rubs is considered "Heavy Use" and sufficient for residential upholstery. For the Limited Edition Gear Pouch, 90,000 double rubs was good enough. It's quite soft, and feels good to touch.
Why use gold liner?
First, the liner adds a bit of protection for the different items you carry inside. Second, we chose gold because this lighter, brighter color makes it easier to quickly see the contents inside your pouch.
What is a locking zipper?
When the YKK zipper is folded down the zipper "locks" and prevents the zipper from sliding.
What is the difference between ballistic nylon and waxed canvas?
Both are extremely durable materials. Ballistic nylon can take a pounding and will look the same years down the line. Waxed canvas takes on character and nicks and scrapes giving it a " been around the world" look. If you have multiple Gear Pouches you can mix colors to help identify what's in each pouch.
