Love the bag - love the customer service even more!

I was on the endless search for the perfect “Personal Item Sized Duffel” for travel and I think I finally found “THE ONE”!
The look from the waxed canvas is absolutely gorgeous. All the pockets and organizational details - including the quick access magnetic hidden back pocket (which will be so useful when you need to temporarily put the phone and ID somewhere while going through the security) - are all felt “just right”.

Initially, I received a defect item. But when I sent an email to notify, I got the response back IMMEDIATELY and they shipped the replacement without waiting for the defect item return to arrive to their warehouse! (*Many companies that I dealt in the past waited until the return item actually get to them first before even making the replacement process) Thanks to living close to their facility, between the day I received the defect item and the day I received the replacement literally took JUST TWO DAYS!

Product doesn’t seem as good of quality as previous items purchased

A Beauty

Another excellent bag, thank you. I could use a 20% larger version for travel, but this is a great overnight/tech bag, or just to carry more for a presentation. The interior thermos holder is a loose broad loop rather than an integrated divider, but the benefit is it flattens away if you’re not using it. The magnetic pocket on the back means I can drop mail in without sealing up the suitcase handle pass through, as I’ve done on others. I always appreciate the thought put into your products.

Durable, Stylish, and Practical: My Second Waterfield Bag Exceeds Expectations

This my second Waterfield bag. I purchased a backpack in the same materials five or so years ago and it is in excellent condition. My new Shinjuku Duffel is serving as my daily briefcase with room for my computer, water bottle, notebook, and files as well as a sweater. In addition to the good looking waxed canvas and leather, I especially love the inner material which is high contrast and has a quality feel to it. This bag has sufficient pockets for wallet, phone, and other odds and ends.

Unlike traditional duffels where items shift around freely, the Shinjuku Duffel features three distinct compartments that keep work gear, personal items, and frequently-accessed essentials neatly separated. No more digging through a jumbled mess — simply go to the right compartment to find what you need.

DETAILS MATTER

As with all WaterField products, the Shinjuku Duffel includes thoughtful features designed for daily comfort and convenience. When fully packed, the two main compartments stay securely closed while you access smaller items from the dedicated pockets.

The discreet rear pocket uses rare-earth magnets for secure, silent closure, perfect for passports and valuables. The front pocket holds frequently accessed items like your wallet, phone, or keys, with a built-in tether to keep keys secure. Everything closes with water-resistant YKK zippers.

Ballistic Nylon is a resilient textile that blends durability, lightness, and weather-resistance. Its sleek, understated aesthetic makes it an ideal choice for the Shinjuku Duffel, a bag designed to be comfortable, lightweight, and stylish.

TRADITIONAL 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS

Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas. The majority designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. Its naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up.

We source our canvas from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth.
