“Not only does it look professional, but it is the kind of bag that will last a lifetime because of the high-quality materials used and the construction of the bag.”
looks great and beautiful, too early to debrief !
I am super impressed how well made this bag is. Excellent materials and craftsmanship. My issue is the height to width ratio really kind of make it look like a purse though. While carrying it I have the satisfaction of owning a great bag while waiting for a murse comment. Makes me very conflicted.
When I bought my MacBook Pro, I knew I wanted a quality leather bag. I love the look and feel of quality leather. However, Waterfield bags are known as “man bags”; even the promotional photos show men. Sometimes a woman wants that Indiana Jones feeling too! So that made me pause before purchasing. I was also concerned about buying sight unseen, but finally I took a look at the return policy and went on a leap of faith. I’m glad I did. The Cozmo bag is a good fit for any professional, male or female.
In the six months that I’ve carried my bag, I’ve found it to be an excellent fit. It’s very attractive; the chocolate leather is high quality and durable; it looks great as well. I like that it has dedicated space for my MacBook Pro and my iPad, as I tend to carry both when I travel. The bright color of the inside makes the interior easy to see, and I appreciate that it stands up on end when I set the bag down (unless I’ve filled it with too much.) I love the option to carry it by the handles or the shoulder strap.
The only drawback as far I can see is that it only has two interior pockets. I use one for my phone and one for assorted pens, etc. I wish there were pen-sized pockets. I’d also like having a dedicated pocket for cords and chargers; these pockets are a little too shallow for some of the heavier charger plugs. (I bought a gear pouch to carry these items, and it seems to be going well.)
It’s been six months now, and I still love my Cozmo bag. If the Rough Rider had been available at purchase time, I might have given it a second look, but overall I’ve very happy with my Cozmo. I highly recommend it!
Cozmo Laptop Bag
I’ve been on my new chocolate leather Cozmo bag for two months now, so this will be a pretty thorough review. I used the former version of the Cozmo for many years, and I certainly can’t say I wore it out. Rather, I upgraded to a new 13” MacBook Pro and thought it deserved a proper housing. While I got what I expected in a Waterfield / SFbags product, I was instantly blown away. It’s stunningly beautiful and magnificently functional.
The bag is well-conceived, with a padded place for your computer that feels very secure and is an easy in and out. The fit and finish is outstanding, from the stitching to the waterproof zippers to the standard bright interior color and material. Some differences from the old design are a more solid structure due to the leather, which allows it to easily stand upright (unless you stuff it like a dope—more about that in a minute). There is also the helpful addition of a leather band on the back for quickly slipping it on top of a suitcase. And speaking of travel, if you’re like me and appreciate an economy of movement through an airport, this bag is perfect. You also look like a total pro. The two inside pockets aren’t as deep as before, but no worries—there’s less of a chance you’ll end up lugging around unneeded junk. Along with the built-in laptop sleeve, there’s another padded and lined smaller sleeve for a tablet, though I end throwing a couple files in there. The biggest change from the old version for me is the absence of a zipper pocket in the front outer pocket under the leather closure. I always travel with a couple bottles of necessary meds and small tech items, and held off buying this bag for that one reason. Turns out I don’t even miss it. I just put my pill bottles on their side in the bottom of the pocket, then put a small Waterfield gear bag on top. Once that beautiful little leather flap is closed, trust me, nothing’s going to fall out. And that tasteful closure is the same as a leather bracelet I’ve worn for yea...
What are splash-proof zippers?
Full-grain leather hold up well in rainy conditions. Splash proof zippers add additional water resistant protection for your gadgets.
Why use full grain leather?
Full-grain leather has a super tight grain so it resists moisture very well, and it's strong and durable. We believe in making products of the highest quality—we never skimp on materials. Full-grain leather is ideal for handles; your fingers will feel the difference. Of course, leather lines the bottom to help the Cozmo withstand various surfaces. The leather also develops a beautiful patina so it will add to the Cozmo's character over time.
Why use a gold liner?
First, the liner adds a bit of protection for the different items you carry inside. Second, we chose gold because this lighter, brighter color makes it easier to quickly see the contents inside your pouch.
How do you suggest I clean the leather?
Actually, we suggest not doing anything. Part of the beauty of highly distressed leather develops as it gets used over time— with rain or getting bumped around. Leather conditioners will darken and alter the leather, maybe not something you desire. If at some point you want to condition the leather - we suggesting using Mink Oil. This will darken a bit at first - but will keep the leather very nice. You can also spread the oils around and smooth them out a bit with a hair dryer and your hand. Any leather discoloration or marks are straight from the actual hide itself; it's part of the character of the leather. That’s how you know it’s the real thing. Each hide has it own look; it's unique just like you. With naturally tanned leather, there's always going to be a bit of character on it that's hard to control. It's one of the reasons we like it so much, you'll always be getting a one-of-a-kind bag.
