"For the first time, I’m genuinely excited about the bag I’m carrying. I have what I need, and a minimal messenger silhouette to match. If the concept of a minimal daily carry — that gives constant little reminders of how special it is — appeals to you, I strongly recommend the Outback Solo by WaterField."
The Solo is streamlined and comfortable to carry and use. The biggest surprise for me was that little pocket. Turns out it is deceptively large. I was shocked at how much stuff fit in there. I thought I would have to be stingy with the things I could bring along in the Solo. I was wrong - that little pocket isn’t little after all. It holds everything I want to take with me and there is room for more stuff if I want. Well done WaterField.
I had been looking for a practical yet stylish case for my iPad Pro. Most in the market are not sized correctly for the 12.9” iPad - but this one is perfect. I use it as my daily driver and am regularly moving between meetings and different office buildings. This case means I have good protection for my iPad, I don’t forget my gear to go along with it, and the shoulder strap means I still have two hands free when walking. A great addition. Thanks.
Hey Gary and the whole team!
I am a new customer and OMG do i love my Outback Solo! Tight fit for my13” Macbook Pro and to my surprise, the front pocket is big enough to store the charging cable, mouse and other small object without changing the shape and look of the bag. The materials look and feel great! Will definitely look more at your different products and refer all my contacts!
Keep up the very cool and professional products! Cheers!
I'd give it 4.5 stars if that were allowed, but *I'm* the one responsible for the 1/2 star gig. Here's why: I'm the proud owner of 4 Waterfield Design cases, and each of them is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and design. They do exactly what they are designed to do, and not much more. But I forgot that lesson. I was looking for a replacement for my large traditional briefcase, something that would stylishly accommodate my iPad Pro plus a subset of the usual EDC stuff one carries - minimalist, but not crazy minimalist. And the Solo Case *almost* fits that bill. For my needs it is just a tad too small to be anything but that which it is completely advertised to be: a "sleeve plus" and not the "briefcase minus" I was looking for - as beautiful and carefully crafted as it is. This is indeed the perfect case for those who want to take their iPad Pro or Macbook, along with only the power cord and wallet, to Starbucks to work for awhile. Take off the shoulder strap, and the Solo is a lovely bag-inside-a-bag organizer for your Macbook and accessories. I've got mine loaded up with the Ipad Pro, my checkbook, glasses case, earpods, Apple pencil and an aspirin bottle. That is all. And the case does close - but barely. Gary tells the truth in the video about what fits - and I didn't listen. But I'm keeping the bag for those times when I go to Starbucks with just my iPad...and looking closely at the Staad Attache as my next attempt at a briefcase replacement!!!
I travel for work, and frequent coffee shops all around Phoenix on my days off! This is the PERFECT bag for both! My laptop fits beautifully inside, and the thick lining will definitely keep it safe and protected. And what better way to write about daring space treasure hunts than with a bag clearly made for Indiana Jones?? It's inspiring from start to finish, and definitely worth the money.
Is the bag water resistant?
The waxed canvas and leather are both water resistant and should keep the device inside dry should you find yourself without an umbrella in the rain. However, we do not recommend taking your Outback Solo for a swim.
Does the flap open up on its own?
The magnetic closure keeps the flap securely fastened on the outer front of your bag.
What else can I carry in the Solo?
The Solo was designed to transport just the essentials— the device, power, a phone and wallet. However, people have put a small tablet in one of the pockets. In a pinch, this can also be used as a handsome general purpose carry-all if the device is taken out.
