Excellent form factor, organization, bright interior, and attractive exterior.
I recently added an iPad Mini back into my EDC gadget rotation and wanted something classy to carry it and my bare essential EDC items. It’s pretty much perfect. It is classy looking and incredibly well made. If I could change only one thing it would be to add a d-ring or key leash to hold my keys. This was money well spent.
Like all the Waterfield bags I’ve purchased over the years, the form and function of this little crossbody bag is ideal for what it’s intended for. Add to that, all my Waterfield bags are built so incredibly well and are still in use years later.
And, just to show how much I wanted this bag over myriad other choices, I have been, since about January 20, 2025, as a Canadian, looking for products built closer to home or from other countries in the world, but, this bag just hit the mark too well and fortunately it’s still covered under the current free trade agreement so there were no crippling tariffs on it.
Please know, I adore my friends, family and good people of my neighbouring country to the south of me, and I really love small companies who make great products and care about their customers. That’s why I was happy to get this Shinjuku Crossbody from the good folks in San Francisco.
Phenomenal sling. Holds a ton of stuff and looks good doing it.
This bag is amazing! Looks great! Feels super solid. The zippers are really nice! Fits iPad Pro 11 inch with Magic Keyboard with so much room for other things, and you’d have no idea there’s an iPad in the bag. It’s small, but mighty!

BEST IPAD MINI CASE
If you're taking along your iPad mini and don't want to carry it in a big bag, you can use the compact, lightweight Shinjuku Crossbody instead.
The Full Size Shinjuku Crossbody fits an iPad mini perfectly in its own padded compartment. When sightseeing, going to the museum, or attending an art class, you can stay nimble by carrying just what you need.
STAY SECURE
When visiting public spaces with your Shinjuku Crossbody, here's a clever feature to give you peace of mind — attach the bag's strap to your chair using the paragliding-style buckle located at the end of the strap.
Should someone take your Shinjuku Crossbody by mistake, they won't be able to pull it away from your chair without you noticing.
SHINJUKU COLLECTION
Inspired by the vibrant, fast-paced Tokyo neighborhood, the Shinjuku Collection is designed to help you nimbly navigate your way through crowds. These stylish bags are compact, lightweight, and comfortable to carry.
Crafted from traditional Waxed Canvas or modern Ballistic Nylon with full-grain leather accents and premium hardware, these bags are made to last.
GO BALLISTIC
Ballistic Nylon is a resilient textile that blends durability, lightness, and weather-resistance. Its sleek, understated aesthetic makes it an ideal choice for the Shinjuku Backpack, a bag designed to be comfortable, lightweight, and stylish.
TRADITIONAL 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS
Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas. The majority designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. Its naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up.
We source our canvas from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth.
HOW TO FRESHEN UP CANVAS
If you have the Shinjuku Crossbody in traditional waxed canvas, you can keep it looking like new by applying wax when you think it needs a little refresh. Although you can use any wax, you may want to try Martexin Original Wax™ which was initially used to coat your canvas bag.
