I own a shamefully large number of Waterfield bags (and loads of other designers as well), but this is by far my favorite as an everyday carry (EDC). The design is incredibly thoughtful and each tactile element is a delight to use. It took about a day to get used to sliding open the buckle, but after the short learning curve it is a quick and easy one-handed operation. The way it magnetically snaps back into place once let go of is an audible treat and so convenient. The brilliant buckle, combined with the perfectly calibrated magnets holding the top of the bag closed, strike an exquisite balance where: 1) with a mug of coffee in one hand I can still use my other hand to open it up, access the bag, and allow it to self-close back while 2) still being completely secure and airtight when closed. Nothing fiddly.
The bag is tiny, but I regularly put in it: 1) an iPad mini with smart cover and Apple Pencil in the dedicated internal sleeve, 2) an Ayn Thor or other retro gaming handheld, 3) a glasses case, and 4) an assortment of small stuff in the zipper pouch (pens, AirPods, knife, Epipen, chapstick, keys etc). The outer pocket has a slim notebook slid in with room to spare.
I have never owned a bag that struck such a perfect balance of size and capacity, while at the same time being quite possibly the most beautiful bag Waterfield has ever made. It is a joy to use
