I really like this bag, it's elegant and sofisticated. Im very happy with my purchase.
There are a lot of great things about this bag. It is difficult to find anything of this quality, made in the USA, at this price. Secondly, I know that Waterfield stands behind their products, I've used a Cozmo (the spiritual predecessor to this product) for 8 years now and when the strap failed twice, Waterfield made it right.
This bag improves a lot of things on the Cozmo. The water bottle holder is exactly what the bag needed to keep things organized. No longer tapering towards the top makes a big difference as well. And they enhanced the overall shape and got rid of the floppy front pouch. Love all these changes.
But they also made some really weird choices that kept me from keeping it: They got rid of the inner zipper pouch and the open pouch on the back of the bag, both big spacial losses. The laptop and tablet compartments are also weirdly floppy and didn't give me faith in the protection and made the inside of the bag messier than it needs to be. The front buckle is a really weird choice as well, especially for a pouch so small. It sort of screams "Please believe I'm interesting despite my boring desk job that requires this bag." And yeah, that front pouch is too small to be useful. They really just needed to lift the magnetic front pouch off the shinjuku, Honestly, they just need to make a special edition leather Shinjuku (though, I get leather isn't very Japanese as a briefcase material, they love their synthetics).
All told, after taxes and shipping this bag will come to 600+. Again, kind of a deal for what it is but still way more than the $389 (+ tax) I paid for the Cozmo, which probably has another 10 years or more of life in it. I'll be truckin' with my Cozmo (I might see if I can jury-rig a water bottle strap in myself) until Waterfield gets it right with this one. It simply needs more space, tighter construction, and a more practical front buckle.
A truly beautiful bag. Very happy with my purchase, the quality is superb.
The back looks amazing with leather that becomes more beautiful with every passing day. I also appreciate the quality of hardware such as the zippers and buckles. They feel heavy and well-made with every use.
I have multiple waterfield products, and this brief is by far my favorite. I love everything about this brief. It’s a modern look that I have been getting constant compliments on. The buckle is a really nice touch in my opinion. I have a professional career, and as strange as it may sounds, wearing this bag makes me feel like a professional. It makes me feel motivated to work hard.
Design details
HERITAGE MEETS INNOVATION
The Lexington Leather Brief blends heritage craftsmanship with modern styling. Made from traditional full-grain leather, the addition of a real paragliding buckle to the clean, structured profile reflects a modern, energetic vibe.
The removable Supreme Suspension Strap helps to relieve the shoulders of heavy loads, and the elevated interior pockets make it easy to retrieve small items in a rush.
FUNCTIONAL & STYLISH
While yesterday's briefcase held documents and lunch, today's holds devices and water. The Lexington Brief has two built-in padded compartments for a laptop and tablet, and a collapsible water bottle pocket.
To keep up with today's fast pace, time-saving features like a double-pull zipper that lets you open the brief from the right, left, or center are a relief. Now items can be retrieved quickly, especially when the bag is packed.
The front pocket holds frequently accessed items, eliminating the need to open the entire bag. Inside, the bright gold liner enhances visibility so you can quickly scan the contents to find what you need.
FULL-GRAIN LEATHER
The authentic, full-grain leather we use to make the Lexington Brief is absolutely beautiful. See it, touch it, and you're hooked.
The distressed leather develops a beautiful patina, and your bag will age well as the years roll by.
ALL-LEATHER COLLECTION
The All-Leather Collection brings together premium full-grain leather designs that balance refined style, everyday functionality, and rugged dependability. Each bag is built to last, with smart details that make everyday carry easier. Check out the full collection.
CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER BAG
We usually recommend leaving the full-grain leather of your Lexington Leather Brief as is and allowing it to develop its own beautiful patina. However, if you’d like to freshen it up from time to time, you can use a leather conditioner — Gary demonstrates how in this video for the Cozmo Leather Briefcase.
Because the leather may darken slightly, first test the conditioner on a discreet area like the bottom of the bag. You can also use a hair dryer to warm the leather’s natural oils so they smooth and spread evenly.
made in usa
We're proud to offer American-made gear built for the long haul. All our products are designed and made in our San Francisco workshop, where rent is high, labor expensive, and competition intense. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
