2019 Cargo Bag

The Cargo Bag Is great! Thoughtfully designed and functional. The flap pocket is convenient for phones. The half-moon pocket under the front flap holds my small gear pouch and calendar. Well done! Customer service is responsive.

Still Haven't Received My Bag

I await the arrival of my bag which was shipped 7 days ago. I was notified it was scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday and was not. I was notified it was scheduled too be delivered the next day and was not. Apparently, SF's chosen shipper Fed Ex, views delivery as more of an option than a service. It is scheduled for a third day....we will see.

Disappointed so far.

Great, just as I've come to expect

This is my third Waterfield product, and I am hooked. The bag is well-made, well-thought-out, and looks great, too. I love that it can carry both my laptop AND a tablet at the same time. I wish the main compartment was just a bit bigger, or at least the sides of the bag spread a bit more to allow me access. But overall I'm extremely happy, and honestly can't wait until I get to buy another Waterfield product!

Loved my bag so much, I came back for another

I bought the original Cargo Laptop bag about 8 years ago. I didn’t need it for the last couple of years so, I handed it down to my son.

Now, I needed a new work bag and, I loved my Cargo bag so much, I just had to come back and get a new one!

I really liked my original bag and, was a bit disappointed when I saw that the bag had changed a bit from the old design. Once my new bag arrived though, those thoughts vanished.

This bag is still the best made, best designed out there. The new leather flap, the new weather resistant zippers, the new angled zipper and pockets on the flap all serve to improve what was, already, a great product.

Looking forward to using this bag for years to come!

Didn’t Even Consider Any Other Brands...

So after 20 years I decided it was time to get a new bag. It is older than my kids (17 year-old twins) and has survived without a single issue other than the shoulder pad, which I replaced. The large Cargo bag has had a great life, but is starting to fray on the bottom and in the interior laptop pocket. I didn’t even consider any other brands, I just had to decide which Waterfield Designs bag I liked the most and the Rough Rider looked amazing – beautiful leather, convenient pockets and flexible size. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait to see it in person.

Thanks for making a great product. I expect my new bag to last me another 20 years.

Do I need to put my laptop in a sleeve when using the Cargo?

No. The new Cargo includes a full-padded laptop compartment that keeps up to a 15-inch MacBook safe and secure. A small nylon flap keeps your laptop in place.

What type of leather do you use?

We use naturally-tanned, lightly treated leather. Each piece is one of a kind and displays the natural texture of the hide. Over time the leather should show character like a good leather bomber jacket.

How do you suggest I clean the ballistic nylon?

The ballistic nylon is *very* durable and will take scrubbing with a stiff brush and mild soap. Blot with towels/rags and let the case dry out. This should have the case looking good as new.

How do you suggest I clean the waxed canvas?

Waxed Canvas isn’t the easiest item on the planet to clean - part of the character-building process with Waxed Canvas is how it ages with scuffs, dirt, stains and all. Still, there are things you can do. This article gives you a good idea of how to clean and re-wax if and when you are ready. They suggest using dish soap and soft brush to clean, then drip dry, then take a hot hairdryer to heat up the wax and redistribute it. This will soften any blemishes and help with the dirt. The lines and crinkles on the waxed canvas are actually normal, and happens in shipping sometimes. All you have to do is use a hair dryer and you can flatten out the wax with your hand.

How do you suggest I clean the leather?

Actually, we suggest not doing anything. Part of the beauty of highly distressed leather develops as it gets used over time— with rain or getting bumped around. Leather conditioners will darken and alter the leather, maybe not something you desire. If at some point you want to condition the leather - we suggesting using Mink Oil. This will darken a bit at first - but will keep the leather very nice. You can also spread the oils around and smooth them out a bit with a hair dryer and your hand. Any leather discoloration or marks are straight from the actual hide itself; it's part of the character of the leather. That’s how you know it’s the real thing. Each hide has it own look; it's unique just like you. With naturally tanned leather, there's always going to be a bit of character on it that's hard to control. It's one of the reasons we like it so much, you'll always be getting a one-of-a-kind bag.
