HEAVY-DUTY 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS

Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas. The majority designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. It has a naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up. 

The canvas comes from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth. 

HOW TO FRESHEN UP YOUR CANVAS

Keep your bag Vitesse Cycling Musette looking new by applying wax when you think it needs a little refresh. Although you can use any wax, you may want to try Martexin Original Wax™ which was initially used to coat your canvas bag. 

FULL-GRAIN LEATHER

No skimping. We use full grain, natural leather. It's the toughest part of the hide with the tightest grain. It's also the most expensive and lasts the longest.  

We use “distressed” leather that bears the marks of the cow, so you can tell it's the real thing. Over the years, you'll leave your own marks, too, and the gorgeous patina that develops will bear your hallmark. 

Your full-grain leather Vitesse Cycling Musette will look better and better the more you use it. 

CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER BAG

We generally recommend leaving the full-grain leather of your bag alone, letting it develop its own unique patina over time. You can spruce up the distressed leather that we use by applying heat from a hair dryer and spreading the leather oils around to smooth them out.

You may also want to freshen up the leather with a bit of leather conditioner. Upon application, the leather may darken a bit, so test the reaction first on a spot that's not highly visible, like the bottom of the bag.
