The Air Porter Backpack fits the maximum personal-size carry-on requirements of most airlines and fits under the seat in front of you. The two top front pockets are accessible without having to pull out the entire backpack and conveniently store items you'll need during the flight.


From takeoff to touchdown, this backpack will keep you organized everywhere you travel.

All our products are crafted locally in our workshop by the most skilled sewing team in San Francisco.

FEATURES

My new all I can carry back pack...

I was looking for something to carry my Macbook Pro 16 Inch and my Apple Vision Pro plus accessories and either it was only a set of very ugly and unpractical setups or one or the other was not possible. I have just used it on my trip to Dubai and I must say I am more than happy with it.

So much space! So much organization! And still pretty comfortable.

I chose the Air Porter backpack because sometimes I need to carry more than my Sutter Slim is made to handle. Like when I need to carry my work laptop, MacBook Pro, iPad mini, microphone, big headphones, water bottle, light jacket, lunch … In short, everything!

The work laptop fits in the laptop pocket, though at 14.5 inches wide, it touches the Air Porter’s cap. The MacBook Pro 14-inch fits in the tablet pocket. The iPad mini fits in the cap. My memobottle A5 fits in the water bottle pocket. I can put my eyewear and contact stuff in the left-side pocket. The front pocket fits a 12.9-inch iPad Pro on its own, but it’s snug. A fully-packed Tech Pocket (iPad mini size), microphone, AirPods Max, lunch, and jacket fit in the main pocket. And I can put my wallet, AirPods Pro, and car keys in the pocket on top of the cap. And the internal zipper pocket with its hidden AirTag sleeve can keep even more little things like pens and other small office supplies.

It’s a lot. A lot a lot. So much that, the first day I used it, when I hadn’t figured out where I wanted everything to go, I lost my car keys. In. The. Backpack. I’d put them in the internal zipper pocket instead of in the cap. Took me 10 minutes to find them.

But you know what? I put it on my back with all that stuff in it (save for my car keys, safely in my hand) and it was still pretty comfortable! There’s plenty of jingle-jangle from the eight zippers, all of which are near the top of the bag, but when you need to carry all the things, a little jingle-jangle is a small price to pay for this much capacity and organization.

This will not be my everyday carry. When I can get away with it, I’ll keep using my Sutter Slim. On the days I need the extra, though, this bag is IT. So long as I remember where I put my car keys.

Must be light, multi-functional, and store my MBA, AVP, and everything else.

I was very surprised how light this bag is. I had purchased two from other vendors and wasted no time in returning them due to being too heavy. I have used a messenger bag but due to recent back problems I decided to have something that I could easily use on one or both shoulders. While I have yet to take a trip with it, I am looking forward to doing so. You cannot go wrong with the quality of the construction and thoughtful design.

Air Porter Backpack and Air Caddy work fantastic on long-haul flights!

I needed a bit larger capacity from my previous Waterfield Designs bag for long haul flights, but still sized to fit under a normal airline seat. The Air Porter Backpack provides great flexibility and is easy to cover during rainy days, and it is understated, not flashy. Fits well on Delta flights so far! Easy to keep clean. The provided pockets and zippers are well designed and very high quality. Very impressed!

Another wonderful product

I have not yet traveled with this but it is well made and sturdy like all Waterfield products I've purchased (six or seven? I've lost track).

It is well thought out to meet the needs of the traveler with the ability to put needed things in easy reach. And that is one of the things I love about Waterfield products, the thought that goes into the design so things are not just nice looking but functional.

The Air Porter Backpack meets the maximum allowable personal size item for most airlines. It has two padded compartments for laptops and tablets. These devices can fit in these padded pockets:

UNDERSEAT CONVENIENCE

 

The Air Porter Backpack's two top pockets are designed specifically to give you easy access to the items you'll need during your flight. Once you've stowed your backpack under the seat in front of you, you can leave it as is while you zip open the top pockets to get your earbuds, headset, phone charger, etc. 

 

No need to take your backpack out of its place. Just reach down and grab what you need during the flight. 

COMFORTABLE ON YOUR BACK 

 

To help distribute the weight on your back, we added a triple layer of structural material on the back side and surrounded the Air Porter Backpack with foam padding on the bottom and front. 

 

This framework also helps the backpack stand upright when you set it down. 

TUCK-AWAY STRAPS 

 

Most backpacks leave straps dangling when you're not wearing it on your back. We've designed a slot where you can tuck the straps in so they stay out of the way. It's a small detail that makes it easier to carry the Air Porter Backapck by the handle, and it gives the backpack a cleaner look.  

COMMUNITY-DESIGNED TRAVEL BAGS

 

We love involving customers in community-design projects because their input often leads to entirely new collections. When we set out to design the Next Generation In-flight Carry and the In-flight Personal Item, we ended up with two types of carry-on bags: the Air Porter (stands up underneath an airline seat) and the Air Duffel (personal item carry-on compliant). 

 

Customers wanted a third type of carry-on for longer trips: a backpack. The larger Air Travel Backpack complies with carry-on requirements and can be placed in the overhead bin. The new, smaller Air Porter Backpack complies with airline personal item requirements and can be placed under the seat in front of you.  Both carry tech gear and several days of clothing. 

 

All bags in the Air Travel Collection include special details to make travel comfortable, organized, and more convenient from takeoff to touchdown.  

THE AIR TRAVEL COLLECTION 

 

The bags and accessories in the Air Travel Collection are designed to be carried on board. Some can fit under the seat in front, in the seat back pocket, or in the overhead bin. They meet most airlines' carry-on size requirements so you can avoid checking in luggage.

All have dedicated compartments for holding tech gear so they stay separated from clothes and accessories. The Collection includes the large Air Travel Backpack, the smaller Air Porter Backpack, Air Duffel, Air Porter Brief, and the Air Caddy.
