Perfect bag for airplane

Just finished up my first trip to Europe with my bag. The description was spot on, made my air travel much more convenient. The pocket placement is spot on for my organizational needs, the bag has plenty of space, and is comfortable. Will buy again

Well built

This backpack is well built as is everything from Waterfield Designs. However, I think it is greatly overpriced. It should sell for half of the $400 price. Just my $.02!

In a word: Perfect

My everyday bag is a Sutter Slim backpack that I use to carry a laptop and iPad, along with all of my cables, chargers, a power bank, a water bottle, and various miscellaneous odds and ends. It's a brilliant backpack but for travel I've always wanted something with just a bit more space.

Enter the Air Porter backpack: When I saw it as a new product, I checked it out and it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, and so, ordered it. It arrived two days before the website said it would ship, so I commend you on your reverse temporal shipping system, but that's not nearly as impressive as the bag itself.

In anticipation of an upcoming trip I did a test packing of the bag and managed to fit all of my usual tech gear along with three days of clothing and my toiletries. This will be the only bag that have to pack for short trips. On longer trips it will supplement my small carryon bag very nicely, giving me the ability to take just a little more. Should I ever have to (shudder) check a bag, the Air Porter is large enough that I can have a couple of days of essentials with me in the event that my checked bag has an adventure that doesn't include my destination.

The quality of the backpack seems to be up to Waterfield's always high standards and I anticipate that the Air Porter will be my faithful and frequent travelling companion for many years to come. Well done!

Great for plane travel and so much more!

The Air Porter backpack is such a wonderful travel companion. The layout is just about perfect with the right amount of organization. If you are a pouch person like me you will love the flexibility of the side pockets and top pockets. Being a top loader you never have to worry about your items falling out while traveling. Even though it is on the smaller side the bag packs an incredible amount of gear and can easily be a multi night bag if you are a minimal traveler.

Another benefit that I didn’t expect was the ability for the bag to be a bike commuting partner. The comfort is decent and the sternum strap keeps the bag from moving around too much. The main compartment is easily big enough for a helmet and also a lock with laptop, chargers, etc.

I have owned many high end packs and this one is easily one of if not the best travel bags I have owned.

It's finally here and I love it!

Some problems with two tracking codes and one was a mistake. Customs held second package for 1,5 weeks to wait the second one. Finally we resolved the problem and now Air Porter is here with couple others great products from Waterfield and I love them all! Air Porter packback will be a great assist when I take a weekend trip to Riga next week. Great quality like always and room to host everything I need for 3-4 days.

Waterfield Air Porter Backpack review: I've never traveled so conveniently with my tech before

Windows Central - September 22, 2023

“...the best tech air travel experience I've ever had. It's not entirely perfect, but it's damn near it.”

Windows Central Verdict: 4.5/5 stars

The Air Porter Backpack meets the maximum allowable personal size item for most airlines. It has two padded compartments for laptops and tablets. These devices can fit in these padded pockets:

  1. Laptop pocket fits laptops up to 15" x 10":
    • 16" MacBook Pro
    • 14" MacBook Pro
    • 13" MacBook Pro
    • NEW 15" MacBook Air
    • 13" MacBook Air
    • Dell XPS 15
    • Surface Laptop 5 (13.5" & 15")
    • Lenovo X1 Carbon
    • and other similarly-sized laptops
  2. Tablet pocket fits tablets up to 13" x 9":
    • 12.9" iPad Pro M2 with Magic Keyboard
    • 11" iPad Pro M2 with Magic Keyboard
    • 11" iPad Air with Magic Keyboard
    • Pixel Slate
    • Surface Pro 9
    • and other similarly-sized tablets

NOTE: An optional Air Caddy (for storing an iPad Mini or iPad Air to watch inflight movies) fits in the leather front panel pocket. A larger Air Caddy for 12.9" iPad Pro fits in the main compartment.

The Air Porter Backpack's two top pockets are designed specifically to give you easy access to the items you'll need during your flight. Once you've stowed your backpack under the seat in front of you, you can leave it as is while you zip open the top pockets to get your earbuds, headset, phone charger, etc.

No need to take your backpack out of its place. Just reach down and grab what you need during the flight.

To help distribute the weight on your back, we added a triple layer of structural material on the back side and surrounded the Air Porter Backpack with foam padding on the bottom and front.

This framework also helps the backpack stand upright when you set it down.

Most backpacks leave straps dangling when you're not wearing it on your back. We've designed a slot where you can tuck the straps in so they stay out of the way. It's a small detail that makes it easier to carry the Air Porter Backapck by the handle, and it gives the backpack a cleaner look.

We love involving customers in community-design projects because their input often leads to entirely new collections. When we set out to design the Next Generation In-flight Carry and the In-flight Personal Item, we ended up with two types of carry-on bags: the Air Porter (stands up underneath an airline seat) and the Air Duffel (personal item carry-on compliant).

Customers wanted a third type of carry-on for longer trips: a backpack. The larger Air Travel Backpack complies with carry-on requirements and can be placed in the overhead bin. The new, smaller Air Porter Backpack complies with airline personal item requirements and can be placed under the seat in front of you.  Both carry tech gear and several days of clothing.

All bags in the Air Travel Collection include special details to make travel comfortable, organized, and more convenient from takeoff to touchdown.
